Disney has established an “Office of Technology Enablement,” a dedicated unit led by Jamie Voris, to coordinate the integration of advanced technologies like AI, augmented reality (AR), and extended reality (XR) across its divisions.

This unit will not centralize all projects but ensure alignment of technological initiatives, with a strategic focus on enhancing consumer experiences in Disney’s theme parks, films, and television through emerging tech.

Kyle Laughlin, an expert in AR/VR and AI, has rejoined Disney to lead R&D for Disney Imagineering, supporting the theme park division’s exploration of AR/VR technologies to create new visitor experiences.

The Office of Technology Enablement will launch with a core team and plans to expand to around 100 employees, signaling Disney’s commitment to long-term investment in cutting-edge technology.

Disney is positioning itself in an increasingly competitive AR/VR market where major players, including Meta, Sony, and Apple, are rapidly advancing and investing in new hardware and applications.
